U Go See Am Emmerson Sierra Leone

Emmerson grew up on a hill overlooking Freetown, the capital, and came of age as the civil war was winding down. He was inspired to write his first protest song, U Go See Am, while commuting in public minivans to college and listening to riders lament the growing gap between rich and poor and the rise in government corruption.

Emmerson has become one of the most influential lyricists and the most popular musician in Sierra Leone.
